New Beginnings

Michelle King

Clouds scurry by on darkened skies

yet down below, teardrops of white

a glimmer of hope –

a new year in sight.

Delicate blooms all drooping and bent

their honey-like scent unfolding –

while winter whispers,

‘Spring is nigh.’

And snowflakes dance merrily

on ice cold breeze.

A winter wonderland so brilliant and bright

a glistening sight.

Barely a sound as folk trudge by

on quiet pathways found –

in the hope that the coming year

sees love and joy and peace abound

for all mankind.

Happy New Year!
